Can I Take Mifepristone And Misoprostol At The Same Time?

Women can administer the 2 element of the so called “abortion pill” simultaneously, preferably 24 hours apart, as is usually done, a new research found. And a second study found out that the drug is secure for late first-trimester medical abortions. Mifepristone or RU486 ends the pregnancy by blocking the production of the progesterone hormone. When the drug is used alone, materials connected to conceiving can remain in the uterus, causing the risk of infection. This is the reason why medical experts also prescribe Misoprostol, which causes the uterus to contract and expel the pregnancy tissue safely. You can buy Misoprostol online

Both the studies are published in the month of April.

The first study found out that giving the Mifepristone and Misoprostol kit at the same time is at least as effectual for pregnancy termination as deploying the dises 24 hours apart. “It really gets down to comfort for the woman,” said one of the medical experts. “ We used to have a phase where women who wanted to have medicines for abortion would have to go through a process over multiple days. It also provides women flexibility. It does not mean they need to do it this way, but it unfolds up a time window. For this sequence, 1,128  women administered Mifepristone orally and were then randomly selected to  either take Misoprostol vaginally soon at the doctor’s clinic or 24 hours later at home. The rate of complete abortions was alike in both the groups and did not contradict by how far along a woman was. The second study looked at 323 women who were 63 to 84 days pregnant. They were from various cities. The women took Misoprostol vaginally 24 to 48 hours after consuming the Mifepristone. Up to 2 additional doses of Misoprostol were taken orally or vaginally as required. 89% of women successfully terminated their pregnancy. Most women also said that they were satisfied (64.8 %) or very satisfied (26.8%) with the experience. Almost all (94%) said that they will sure recommend  medical abortion to their friend and (90.04%) said that they will go for medical abortion if there is no further procedure required in future. 55% of the 1.3 million medical abortion performed each year happen before 9 weeks of gestation. An additional 34% of medical abortion happen in 10-12 weeks of gestation. Surgical abortion during this period is also effective but not always accessible, and that procedure can carry serious health risk, the expert said. The second study shows that a medical abortion is very safe and effective alternative to surgical abortion, the expert said. “Medical abortion has been regularly used for early period gestation but not so commonly for the later end of the trimister,” said a medical expert. “Now, with other researches, it is well established that this is an acceptable and effective option for women.”
